Divyang minor girl raped, impregnated in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Police today arrested a youth for allegedly raping and impregnating a divyang minor girl at Itamati village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

The Itamati police nabbed the accused identified as Brajabandhu Sahoo of Itamati village following a complaint lodged by family of the victim.

According to reports, the minor girl, who is a divyang, was allegedly raped by Sahoo at her house four months ago. The family of the victim wanted to settle the matter at village meeting. The youth had agreed to pay Rs 1 lakh to the girl’s family. However, he did not pay and the girl was found pregnant.

The family members lodged a complaint with Itamati police alleging rape of the divyang girl.

Even as strong law by Centre to curb sexual assault on minor girls, such incidents are being reported daily in media.
