The doctors and the police are engaged in a tug of war ever since a dispute over parking of a vehicle on the SCB Medical College and Hospital campus in Odisha’s Cuttack ensued this morning.

While police have registered a case against a doctor, the medical students have threatened to launch a cease work agitation from tomorrow morning.

The HoD of Nephrology department Dr Chittaranjan Kar alleged that an Additional Inspector in Charge misbehaved with him while he was parking his car on the campus. The duo had an altercation over parking of the vehicle which turned ugly, reports said.

The police official, however, claimed that the doctor and his driver misbehaved and even threatened him.

Following the incident, the police personnel lodged a complaint with the Mangalabad police station under section 341, 294, 186, 283, 506, and 34 of IPC. Besides, the local police have seized the car.

While the matter turned worse, the medicos staged a protest in front of the premier government run hospital by blocking the road.

In wake of the development, members of Odisha Police Association held a meeting at the Mangalabag police station to sort out the issue.

“No question of tendering apology. We won’t go for compromise. Let law take its course,” Odisha Police Association president Satyajit Mishra said.

As the OPA members are in no mood to relent, the medicos have threatened to go on a cease work agitation from tomorrow should the police official doesn’t tender apology.

“The erring cop has misbehaved with the HoD of Nephrology department for which he should beg apology at the spot of incident or else we would resort to cease work agitation from 9 am tomorrow,” said Pritam Kar, president of SCB post graduate medical student union.
