Docs resort to cease work as Cong workers assault ADMO in Odisha

The doctors in City Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack today resorted to cease work in protest against the alleged assault by Congress workers who had staged a dharna in front of the hospital against the depleting health infrastructure in the state.

According to reports, the workers of the Congress party barged into the hospital and went berserk. While they allegedly assaulted the Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) Abhay Kumar Patnaik, they also vandalized his office causing damage to property of the government-run hospital.

Following the incident, the ADMO has filed a complaint with the Daragha Bazaar police station here.

Congress workers led by Mohammed Moquim, president of Cuttack city Congress and PCC vice-president Suresh Mahapatra had staged the demonstration in front of the hospital.

Earlier, the Congress had announced to stage demonstration in front of all the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) across the state in protest against the deteriorating healthcare services in the state.
