Doctor assaulted after patient dies in CHC in Odisha’s Balasore

As per reports, the patient, who is a resident of Nampo area, was admitted to GK Bhattar community health centre (CHC)  on Tuesday morning. But he died during treatment reportedly due to medical negligence.

Jaleswar: Tension prevailed after irate locals assaulted a doctor and staged an agitation following death of a patient due to alleged medical negligence at a government hospital in Jaleswar town of Odisha’s Balasore district here today. The deceased was identified as Akhaya Jena.

As per reports, the patient, who is a resident of Nampo area, was admitted to GK Bhattar community health centre (CHC)  on Tuesday morning. But he died during treatment reportedly due to medical negligence. As the news spread, local residents from the village of the deceased reached the place and staged an agitation alleging that Jena’s death was due to negligence of the hospital staff. The protestors also assaulted the doctor on duty Sanjay Panda who somehow managed to escape.

Police on getting information reached the spot and tried to assuage the villagers. The stir was called off after the protestors were assured of needful action.
