Doctor found dead in closed room under mysterious circumstances in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: The body of a retired doctor was spotted today by some local residents in a closed room at Mahadeijoda under Keonjhar Sadar police limits in this district.

The deceased has been identified as Balaram Sahoo, who belonged to the locality.

The exact reason why the medical professional took an extreme step has not been ascertained yet.

According to a police source, the body was found inside the doctor’s residence after nearly two days. The elderly man used to reside alone in Mahadeijoda as he was unmarried.

“The doctor did not open the main door of his living room and come out of his residence. Some locals suspected that something had gone wrong when a foul smell came out of the room. Later, they informed police about it,” a senior official of Sadar police station expressed.

On being informed, Sadar police reached the spot seized the body, and sent it to a nearby health facility for post-mortem. Police have launched a probe into the death.

“The doctor was sick for the past several days. Probably, he died without food,” a local said.
