Doctors to rejoin work at VIMSAR, Odisha today

In a relief for patients in Odisha, PG students and house surgeons of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla have called off their three day strike today.

The medical students and doctors agreed to resume work after a 2 hour meeting with the Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh Singh in presence of medical superintendent of college, yesterday.

The SP had assured the students strict action will be taken against the main culprits who had manhandled them in the hospital on October 24th.

Tension had prevailed in the premier hospital after some miscreants had ransacked the hospital and manhandled PG students and junior doctors, alleging medical negligence after a patient had died on October 24.

The local police had earlier arrested four miscreants related to the incident.
