“I am sure this extremely well made film would go a long way in propagating the religious and spiritual significance of Nabakalebara both inside and outside the state,” Pradhan said after launching the DVD of the film at Hotel Mayfair here.

Made in both English and Odia by ‘Lighthouse’, a leading Bhubaneswar based production house, ‘Debata Hoeele Maraee’ seeks to capture the religious significance of the grand festival called Nabakalebara. It has been directed by Sanjay Kanungo and Gurujee Swetachandan.

Based on meticulous research, the original Odia script for the film was done by eminent writer Dr Bibudharanjan. The script has been rendered into English by senior journalist Sandeep Sahu.

Effortless presentation and intelligent use of graphics mark this aesthetically made film.

The second part of the documentary, made with support from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), would be released during the Nabakalebara in July, sources in the production house said.

The film would be widely available on Youtube from June, they said.
