Donation box looted at Puri Jagannath Temple; probe on

Puri: Security lapses at the famous Jagannath Temple in Puri came to fore as a donation box located at southern gate of the temple was allegedly looted late on yesterday night.

According to reports, the miscreants broke open the donation box and decamped with money and valuables leaving the donation box box near Nrusingha temple on premises of the Srimandir.

Some servitors found the empty donation box inside the temple and handed over to Jagannath Temple Police.

After learning about the incident, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration initiated an investigation by scanning the CCTV footages.

Earlier, several loot incidents had been reported from Srimandir.

Reports said that cash was looted from Ram temple near southern gate and from Suar Nijog office near Koili Baikuntha on premises of the Jagannath Temple in Puri.
