Done everything as per law: Ex-Governor Beniwal

Kolkata, Aug 8 :

Two days after being sacked, former Mizoram governor Kamla Beniwal Friday claimed she had taken all actions strictly as per law while holding the high constitutional office.

“Maine sab kaam kaide kanoon se kia hai” (I have done everything as per the law), she said here on her arrival from Mizoram.

She would be leaving for Jaipur Saturday.

Beniwal, who had a strained relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat chief minister, was sacked Wednesday night, two months before her tenure was to end.

She is the second governor to be removed from her post by the BJP-led government. Puducherry governor Virendra Kataria was dismissed July 12.

After the Modi government took charge May 26, six governors resigned following the government’s signals — B.L. Joshi (Uttar Pradesh), Shekhar Dutt (Chhattisgarh), Ashwani Kumar (Nagaland), M.K. Narayanan (West Bengal), B.V. Wanchoo (Goa) and Vakkom B. Purushothaman (Mizoram).
