Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, July 18:

Puncturing the tall claims of the Odisha government over the arrest Maoist leader Sabyasachi, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Odisha Assembly Narasingha Mishra, today advised the state government to arrest the ‘issue’ and and not gloat over the arrest of a ‘person”.

Narasingh Mishra“Arrest the disease, not the symptom,” he advised the government.

Mishra said the government, which terms Maoism as a socio-economic issue, should focus more on the eradication of poverty, the root cause behind the spread of left wing extremism.

The senior Congress leader said although Sabyasachi”s means of struggle was not within the parameters of law, he did fight against social injustice.

Undeterred by angry protests from the treasury bench which accused him of siding with an ‘outlaw’, Mishra said he was not defending Panda and that he was for punishment to all who break the law, including the members of the treasury bench.

” You are also breaking the law time and again and forcing the Opposition to rush to the well of the House. You should also be punished,” he said, adding, “Your ministers even give statements on judicial commission’s reports to the media.” Addressing the Speaker, Mishra asked, ” If you cannot protect the dignity of the House, who will ?”
