We don’t need certificate from BJP, says Cong

Bhubaneswar, Jan 23:

The state Congress today took a pot-shot at the national BJP president Rajnath Singh for terming the age old party as communal and said the party does not require a certificate from the saffron party.

“The statement of Rajnath Singh is utterly irresponsible. Congress does not require a certificate from BJP. The party stands for its socialist and democratic ideologies,” said outgoing Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ramachandra Khuntia reacting to Singh’s remark on Congress.

Khuntia, however, said that the party would be happy if BJP turns secular.

It is to be noted that Singh had yesterday dubbed Congress as the “most communal party” while claiming BJP as the “biggest secular” party in the country.

“The BJP party is the most secular party in the country. It is the Congress, which is playing the communal card and not the BJP. BJP’s political agenda is for justice and humanity,” Singh had said while replying to a question about Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s comments on the BJP.

It may be noted that speaking at the foundation day function of BJD, Patnaik had dubbed BJP as “communal” and Congress as “corrupt”.
