Double bonanza: Odisha farmers to get PM-KISAN benefits

Bhubaneswar: In a good news for farmers, the Odisha Government has decided to implement the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme in the state, informed Saurabh Garg, Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department, today.

Initially, a list of around 12.45 lakh first phase beneficiaries (small and marginal farmers) of the State Government’s Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme will be given to the Centre, the official informed.

Odisha Government’s decision of implementing PM-KISAN will ensure additional financial assistance for the farmers of the state, who are already getting benefits under the KALIA scheme.

Under the PM-KISAN yojana, vulnerable landholding farmer families, having cultivable land upto 2 hectares, will be provided direct income support at the rate of Rs 6,000 per year. The amount will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary farmers in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each.
