Double murder in Odisha’s Keonjhar over suspected witchcraft

Keonjhar: In a gruesome incident, a person allegedly killed a 60-year-old woman and her relative suspecting them of practising witchcraft at Nangadapalli village under Bamebari police limits in Keonjhar district last night.

The deceased have been identified as Subash Munda and Chaitanya Munda (40) of Nangadapalli village.

According to reports, the minor daughter of one Rama Munda of the same village was suffering from fever since long. Munda took his daughter to a traditional healer, who told him that his daughter is suffering due to black magic. Suspecting the elderly woman of practising sorcery, Munda with the a few others stoned her to death in her house last night. When Chaitanya came to her rescue, the accused beat him to death.

It is also alleged that the accused had also thrashed Subash and her son last Sunday.

On receiving information, Bamebari police detained the prime accused and one of his associate in this connection. The cops are further investigating the incident. However, the police refused to divulge further details regarding the double murder.
