Dowry Death! 3 months after marriage, woman found dead in Odisha

Nabarangpur: Barely three and a half months after marriage, a woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws over dowry at Kakudiamba village under Maidalpur police limits in Nabarangpur district last night.

As per reports, One Dharmananda Nayak of Kakudiamba had married Rasmita Satnami of Chichia village in Kalahandi district on July 1. However, her in-laws were unhappy with the dowry items she had brought and had been pressurizing her to bring more cash. Moreover, they had been allegedly torturing her physically and mentally for the same.

As per the complaint, Rasmita’s in-laws called up her parents yesterday and told them that their daughter is ill. However, when her family members reached, Rasmita’s body was kept in the morgue of the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

While Rasmita’s in-laws alleged that she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room, her parents moved police station alleging it to be a case of murder.

Meanwhile, police have begun an inquiry into the incident.
