Jajpur: In a fresh incident of dowry death, a woman died after her in-laws allegedly thrashed her brutally and later threw rice gruel on her at Sankarikula village under Bari police limits in Jajpur district yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Tulasi Bari, daughter of Braja Kishore Das of Baruhan village in the district.

Sources said Tulasi had married one Rama, son of  Bhikari Mallick, in April 2018. Though Braja had given dowry during the time of marriage, Tulasi’s in-laws had been demanding for more dowries. They had  been torturing her mentally and physically for the same since then. It is also alleged that Tulasi’s sister-in-laws used to exploit her in the absence of her husband.

On the fateful day yesterday, her in-laws allegedly killed her after thrashing her brutally and throwing rice gruel on her, sources added.
