Bhubaneswar, Mar 5:

A day after conducting raids at the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) office in Cuttack and seeking files in connection with the allotment of plots under the discredited discretionary quota made between 1995 and 2014, the Vigilance department of the Odisha government turned its attention to he Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Wednesday.

While confirming that fie=les had indeed been sought from them, BDA authorities said that they would extend their full cooperation to the Vigilance in the matter.

“Yes, we have received a letter from the Vigilance department seeking files on multiple allotments and allotments made under the discretionary quota for conduct of inquiry. We are sorting out the files in this regard. The list is very long and hence we have asked concerned section officers to sort out files and keep them ready. As and when Vigilance seeks any information, we shall be providing it to them,” said Madhumita Rath, PRO, BDA.

It may be recalled here that the state government had constituted a task force under the then Revenue and Disaster Management secretary Taradatt to probe the misuse of the discretionary quota and multiple allotment of plots and houses following allegations by the Opposition and various quarters, including the CAG, that influential persons had grabbed more than one plot or house in violation of the rules.

The task force had recommended an inquiry by the Vigilance into such allotments.
