Dreaded criminal injured in police encounter in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A notorious criminal was injured in an encounter with police in Choudwar area of Odisha’s Cuttack district, today.

The injured criminal, identified as Ajay Sahu alias Jitu, has been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital here for treatment.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Jitu at a forest near Choudwar, a joint team of Choudwar Police and Special Squad had raided the place to apprehend him. However, he opened fire at the cops in a bid to escape.

During retaliation by police, he sustained bullet injuries on his right leg. He was later admitted to the hospital.

A gun and a bullet have been seized from his possession, police sources said, adding that several loot cases are pending against him at various police stations in the district.
