Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, a team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths today seized Ganja (cannabis) worth around Rs 1.53 Crore following a raid carried out at Dhalapathar locality in Khurda district.

According to a source, the DRI team was tipped off that cannabis weighing around 765 kilograms was being smuggled elsewhere. Swinging into action, the DRI team conducted the raid leading to a huge seizure. However, no one has been arrested in this connection.

The huge cache of Ganja was packed in about 25 large sacks and was being carried in a pick-up van when the vehicle was intercepted. The driver of the pick-up van managed to give the slip to the team.

“Valuation of the seized contraband item would be around Rs 1.53 Crore in the open market,” a member of the raid team expressed.
