Nuapada: In a tragic mishap, a driver was charred to death after two trucks collided in Sinapali block of Odisha's Nuapada district here on Thursday night. The incident took place on Biju Expressway at Chatiaguda near Jogenpadar Chowk within Sinapali police limits at around 2 am.

The deceased, identified as Mouslim Khan, was the brother of the driver at the front Iqbal Khan.

As per reports, the two trucks belonged to one one owner from Rajasthan. The vehicles were loaded with alumimium and were plying back to back from Jharsuguda when the driver of the front truck suddenly applied brakes resulting in a rear-end collision with the truck behind. Such was the impact of the collision that the truck behind caught fire and the driver burnt alive.

Sources said there were two drivers each in both the trolleytrucks. Seeing one of them caught in the blaze, they rushed to rescue Mouslim but he was crushed between the steering wheel and the seat.

Fire services on getting information, reached the spot and doused the flame. While initially, it was difficult to rescue the driver, later the body was retrieved and sent to the community health centreĀ  for postmortem.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
