Bhubaneswar, Dec 30:
Parts of coastal Odisha experienced light drizzle while cloudy and chilly weather prevailed over most areas in the state on Tuesday morning as a result of the low pressure formed over Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu coast which moved northwards into India this morning.
The Well Marked Low Pressure Area lay over Southwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coast at 0830 hours today, the Met department said in a press release this afternoon.
Rain/Thundershower would occur at a few places over South Odisha and one or two places over North Odisha while heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over Odisha in the next 24 hours, the bulletin said.
“The well marked low pressure would move northwards along the coast and could trigger moderate rainfall along the Odisha coast. This kind of weathher may prevail till January 1,” said DP Ray, in charge Director of the IMD Centre here.
“The temperatures may go down to the east of the areas that experience rainfall,” he said.
The weather forecast has cast a shadow over the plans of New Year revellers, who were busy preparing for the festivities.
