Drug peddler’s property worth Rs 2 crore seized in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police seized a Balasore-based drug peddler’s property worth around Rs 2 crore in a NDPS case.

During investigation, moveable/immoveable properties worth of around Rs.2 crore, acquired by drug peddler Sk. Samiruddin alias Taklu Raja, son of Sk Sadiruddin of Jhadeswarpur under Jaleswar police limits in Balasore district, have been seized, informed Odisha STF in a release today.

On February 23 last year, the agency had seized 405 gram contraband brown sugar. During course of the probe in the case, Odisha STF detected properties including 11 plots and bank deposits worth around Rs 2 crore amassed by him out of illegal drug trade.

Under the provision of chapter V A of NDPS Act (Section A- Z) there is a provision of seizing and forfeiture of ill gotten property (illegally acquired property from Narcotics business in last six years).

Odisha Police has recommended to the authority concerned for confiscation of property belonging to the accused.

A detailed proposal for confirmation of seizure/ forfeiture of the properties earned out of contraband drugs business was sent to the office of Competent Authority, Kolkota as per provision of Sec. 68 (F) NDPS Act, 1985, the release stated.
