Drugging of Odisha college girl: Victim alleges involvement of accused’s sister

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking revelation in the sensational incident of an Odisha college girl allegedly being drugged by her female friend, the victim today said that one of her classmates who offered her ‘spiked’ candy is the sister of a youth who used to blackmail her with some of her obscene photos.

“One Samir Mohanty had clicked my photos while I was inside a bathroom. The incident took place in Mayurbhanj in 2016 during a picnic. He used to blackmail me with the photos and also threatened me to upload those on Facebook if I refuse to have relation with him,” the victim said speaking to media persons here today after getting discharged from the ICU of Capital Hospital here.

She further said that the sister of the youth, who is her classmate, offered her candies in the college, following which she became unconscious after returning home on January 29.

“Investigation is underway. We are examining the CCTV footage of the college. The accused youth will be brought under the purview of investigation. Acton will be taken against anyone found guilty,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.

As per an FIR lodged by the father of the victim, a +2 Second Year student of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya here, at Kharavela Nagar police station, his daughter became unconscious after returning home from the college.

She was then admitted to Capital Hospital. After gaining consciousness, she told her father that one of her female classmates offered her two candies-like red-coloured stuffs during practical examination. She complained of headache and uneasiness after consuming those.
