Drunk auto rickshaw driver fined Rs 35,500 in Odisha’s Sundergarh

Sundergarh: Officials of the Sundergarh District Transport department today imposed a fine of Rs 35,500 on an auto rickshaw driver for violating different rules of the Motor Vehicles Act.

As per reports, the auto rickshaw driver, Binod Patra of Sundergarh town was caught by the Transport officials while ferrying some school children at around 4 pm. During examination, the officials found that Patra was under the influence of alcohol. Also, his vehicle did not have fitness and permit. Above all, he was not having a valid driving license.

Additional Transport Official Sasmita Behera fined Patra Rs 10,000 for drunk driving, Rs 15,500 for being unable to present the fitness and permit documents of the vehicle and Rs 10,000 for driving without a DL.

As per latest reports, Patra was sent to jail for violating the rules.
