Drunk man shoots wife dead in Odisha; held

Boudh: A drunk husband allegedly shot his wife dead at Geredisahi village under Harabhanga police limits in Boudh district last night.

However, locals detained the accused and handed him over to police.

Sources said an altercation broke out between Rohit Mallick and his wife Gitanjali over some domestic issue last night. The two were indulged in a heated argument for a while. Enraged, Rohit opened fire at Gitanjal with a country-made gun killing her on the spot.

Later, when the accused tried to flee the spot, few locals caught hold of him and informed Harabhanga police about the incident. A police team later reached crime scene and arrested the accused. The cops also seized the weapon used in the crime and sent the body for post-mortem.

Further investigation in this connection is underway, said police.
