Drunk man stabs son to death, injures younger brother in Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly stabbed his son to death in a drunken state in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Deb Nayak (22), son of Jageswar Nayak, of Dhandra village under Tentulikhunti police limits in Nabarangpur.

Accused Jageswar also injured his younger brother Abhimanyu Nayak when the latter tried to intervene.

According to police, Jageswar had allegedly stabbed Deb in his chest when the latter opposed the former for creating a ruckus in front of their house in an inebriated state yesterday evening.

Jageswar also attacked Abhimanyu with the knife when he tried to protect Deb. Abhimanyu sustained grievous injuries in the incident.

The villagers rescued Deb and Abhimanyu and rushed them to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition. Deb died while being treated.

The police have registered a case in this regard on the basis of a complaint lodged by Jageswar’s younger son Partha and sent the body for postmortem.

The cops have also detained accused Jageswar for interrogation. A scientific team has been called in to assist in the probe.
