Drunken headmaster faces the music for inappropriate behaviour in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Tikabali: The headmaster of a government-run upper primary (UP) school, who was newly posted and was coming to the educational institution in an inebriated condition most of the days, was suspended today by the School and Mass Education (S&ME) department.

The teacher was working in the school at Gardingia village under Tikabali block of Kandhamal district.

A source said that the school teacher identified as Ashwini Kumar Nayak was placed under suspension by District Education Officer (DEO) Pramod Kumar Sarangi, for his inappropriate behaviour.

The administrative action was taken based on an inquiry report submitted by Cluster Education Officer (CEO) Jagannath Sahani.

“An inquiry was carried out and headmaster Nayak was found to be guilty. Allegations were made against him by some parents and local residents,” the DEO expressed when contacted.

It is pertinent to mention here that the headmaster was transferred around four months ago from Burbinaju UP school, where he was working as an assistant teacher.
