Dry day on Holi: Bootlegger arrested in Odisha capital

While foreign liquor outlets will remain closed for Holi festival, a bootlegger was arrested here with a huge cache of alcoholic beverages, police sources said today.

The trafficker identified as Jatia Bhuiyan (32) from Uppar Sahi in Badagada area here was arrested by Laxmisagar police yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, the police personnel laid a trap near Kalpana Square. The accused was apprehended by the cops and over 50 litres of foreign liquor was seized from his possession.

As the outlets will remain shut as per orders of district administration to maintain peace during Holi celebrations, unscrupulous elements hoard huge quantity of alcoholic beverages to make hay.
