Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today enhanced the duty call-up allowance of home guards to Rs 533 from Rs 423 per day.

The enhancement in the duty call-up allowance of home guards in Odisha was made as per the judgment of the Supreme Court of India passed on March 17 this year, said a notification issued by the Home department today.

The enhancement will come into force retrospectively from April 1, 2023, it added.

Notably, the Supreme Court on March 17 upheld an order of Orissa High Court to pay Rs 533 as duty call-up allowance to home guards in Odisha. The Apex court had dismissed an appeal of the state government against the HC order.

Hearing a petition filed by three home guards, a single judge bench of Orissa High Court in 2020 had ordered for the payment of Rs 533 as per day duty call-up allowance to home guards.
