DVOR made operational at Odisha’s Jharsuguda airport

Jharsuguda: Doppler Very high frequency Omnidirectional Range (DVOR) facility was today made operational at the Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Odisha’s Jharsuguda.

Construction work for the DVOR had started in February and a team from Airports Authority of India’s corporate headquarters in Delhi and regional headquarters in Kolkata visited the airport on July 24 to check the system, informed Sudesh Kumar Chauhan, director of the airport.

The DVOR will be used by the aircraft to find out the radial and distance from the airport. It will facilitate take-off and landing of aircrafts during inclement weather conditions.
