Ferocious eagle attack on workers engaged in repair work of the Jama Masjid in Unit-4 area of  Bhubaneswar, Odisha has stalled its renovation work for the last two years.

The largest Masjid in the capital is in need of repair. Its four minarets have developed cracks and workers had been called from Kolkata for their upkeep.

On Thursday, no sooner the workers had started work in the minars, the eagles closed in and started their attack. Not once or twice, but 10-12 times, according to onlookers.

Such virulent attacks by eagles on workers have made sure that no repair work has progressed for the last two years, according to Masjid authorities.

The workers were seen running for cover and the work was stopped again. A crowd gathered around the Masjid to watch the eagle attack.

Khurda honorary wildlife warden Suvendu Mallick said that they have advised the Masjid authorities to install a mesh net around the masjid roof to protect the workers.

If any eagle gets entangled in the net, then help of forest department can be taken to rescue them, he added.
