ECI team to review poll preparedness in Odisha ahead of General Elections 2024

Bhubaneswar: A high-level team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) led by Chief Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is to review the poll preparedness in Odisha ahead of the General Elections 2024. The team will arrive here on February 15 and carry out a detailed review till February 17.

The team comprising Commissioners Arun Goel and Anup Chandra Pandey will be on a three-day visit.

Worth mentioning, the country will soon go for elections to Lok Sabha, including legislative assemblies in a number of states. Hence, the ECI team has been reviewing preparedness for the upcoming polls. Before the Odisha tour, the team previously visited neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

The Commission had recently issued a guideline stating that officers directly connected with the conduct of elections in poll-bound states and Union Territories (UTs) are not posted in their home districts or places where they have served for a considerably long period (i.e completed at least three years).
