ECoR observes Civil Defence Raising Day in Odisha’s capital city

Bhubaneswar, Dec 8:
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) Civil Defence Organisation celebrated the 52nd Annual Civil Defence Raising Day at Rail Sadan in the Odisha’s capital city on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, ECoR general manager Rajiv Vishnoi praised the Civil Defence Organisation for their role in disaster management and rescue operations.
“Civil Defence is meant for civil protection and is an effort to protect the citizens in emergency operations, prevention, mitigation, preparation, response, or emergency evacuation and recovery. Civil Defence organization of ECoR always stands in frontline for the rescue operations in all eventualities and played exceptional role during severe cyclonic storms Phailin and Hudhud”, he added.
On this raising day, the Civil Defence personnel demonstrated their skills in fire fighting, rescue techniques from high rise buildings and first aid etc.
The programme was coordinated by SK Purohit, deputy general manager and controller of Civil Defence.
