Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view popular demand from passengers, the Ministry of Railways has decided to run special trains towards Ajmer from Puri for Khawaja URS Fair-2020. The decision has been taken after reviewing the long waiting list in regular trains.

Passengers can easily get confirm berths in this special train to make the journey hassle free, a statement issued by the Ministry of Railway stated.

To carry the devotees of this region to witness URS festival, ECoR has planned to run a special train from Puri on February 26, 2020. In the return direction, this train will leave Ajmer on March 2, 2020 and will arrive Puri on March 4, 2020.

08421 Puri-Ajmer Special will leave Puri at 0900hrs on February 26, 2020 (Wednesday) and will arrive at Ajmer at 0400hrs on February 28 (Friday). In the return direction, 08422 Ajmer-Puri Special will leave Ajmer at 2005hrs on March 2, 2020 (Monday) and will reach Puri at 1615hrs on March 4, 2020 (Monday).

This train has One AC-2 Tier, Four AC-3 Tier, Nine Sleeper Class, Six Second Class Seating and Two Guard cum Luggage Van in its composition having stoppages at Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Rairakhol, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Titilagarh, Kantabanji, Khariar Road, Mahasamund, Raipur, and other important Stations between Puri and Ajmer from both the directions.

URS festival is celebrated to commemorate the death anniversary of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, founder of the Chishtiya Sufi order in India. It is celebrated for six days in the 7th month of Islamic Lunar Calendar, called Rajab and features night long dhikr qawwali singing. This year, 1st Rajab will be held in the night of 25th/26th February, 2020 and 6th Rajab will be held on 1st/2nd March, 2020.
