ED attaches Odisha godman Sarathi Baba’s properties worth over Rs 11 cr

Bhubaneswar, Mar 28:

In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today attached Rs 11.40 crore worth properties belonging to self-proclaimed Odisha godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raul, informed ED sources.

 

The attached properties include Sarathi’s ashram at Barimul in Kendrapara district, two apartments in Bhubaneswar and bank deposits to the tune of Rs 2.40 crore, ED sources added.

The properties of the self-proclaimed Odisha godman were attached under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the sources further revealed.

Sarathi was grilled by the ED officials in January this year and earlier in December last year.

Sarathi is currently cooling his heels at the Choudwar Circle Jail after being arrested on August 8, 2015 from his Barimul ashram in Kendrapara after he was embroiled in controversies concerning his stay with a young woman medico in a hotel in Hyderabad and several other cases.
