Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will investigate the disproportionate asset case against former Deputy Conservator of Forests Sarat Chandra Panda. The financial investigation agency will look into the financial transactions carried out by Sarat Chandra during his service period.

Worth mentioning, the Odisha government had given compulsory retirement to Sarat Chandra in October 2019 after Income Tax traced disproportionate assets of more than Rs 3 crore owned by him.

While working as Nuapada DFO, the Income Tax officials had raided houses and office of Sarat Chandra in February 2017. Investigation showed he had deposited large amount in bank accounts of his family members during demonetization. Following this, Sarat Chandra was arrested by the Vigilance.
