ED to probe former Odisha MLA’s financial transactions

Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will probe into the financial transactions of former Bhawanipatna MLA Anam Naik, who was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Assets of Anam to the tune of Rs 3.42 crore were traced by the anti-corruption agency following raids by Vigilance officers in January. He was later arrested by the Vigilance for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 1.54 crore.

Naik had joined government service as a junior clerk of the Revenue Department in 1985. He resigned in 2004 and entered politics. He was the MLA of Bhawanipatna Assembly segment from 2014 to 2019. He was denied BJD ticket from Bhawanipatna Assembly seat in 2019 elections.
