Education syllabus to be reduced in Odisha: Minister

Bhubaneswar: Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash today informed that education syllabus in the state will be reduced in view of the closure of schools and higher secondary schools for a long period of time due to COVID-19 pandemic.

While State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) will take the decision regarding the reduction of the syllabus for classes I to X, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) will do the same for classes XI and XII, the minister said.

The SCERT will submit a report regarding the number of days the schools will remain open after the closure period. The School and Mass Education Department will take a decision in this connection after the submission of the report, he said.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given his approval for the syllabus reduction, the minister added.
