More than a week after an egg was pelted at Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda during a drinking water project inauguration in Mahanga area of Odisha’s Cuttack district, the local police today registered a case in connection with the incident.

The case was registered under Sections 147, 148, 294, 323, 337, 355, 506, 149 of the IPC on the basis of a complaint lodged by Subhendra Nayak, a social activist, reports said.

Sub-inspector JK Das has been given the charge of investigation, reports added.

Notably, several BJD workers, believed to be supporters of Mahanga MLA Pratap Jena, had reportedly pelted an egg at MP Panda which hit his head, after he inaugurated a drinking water project at Jatiparilo village under Rahania panchayat in Mahanga area on May 30.
