The Minister’s car was also pelted with eggs yesterday at Puri.

The incident occurred when some youth claiming to belong to the students’ and youth wings of the Congress party hurled eggs and tomatoes at the Minister’s car near the Chhatrapur College square on the national highway while he was on his way to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of Behampur University, reports said. The attackers however, managed to flee the spot, the reports added.

While the Students’ Congress has claimed responsibility for the act, the Minister has alleged it to be the handiwork of a former MLA from Puri district.

“A former MLA who is known as a member of the mining mafia is connected with the incident. He had given some money to some youth while encouraging them to obstruct the Minister’s vehicle. sanjay das burmaI want to make it clear here that the youth and students of the state should stay away from such anti-social elements,” said Das Burma in his reactions on the egg pelting incident on his vehicle.

“The Students’ Congress has pelted eggs and will continue to do so against the ministers and MLAs of the ruling party for the corruption they have done in allotting ration cards. The ministers, MLAs of the ruling party and the Chief Minister have to face egg attacks on the roads,” said Itish Pradhan state president Chhatra Congress speaking to reporters.

Notably, Congress activists alleging large scale irregularities in the allotment of ration cards had pelted eggs at Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister’s car at the Special Circuit House in Puri on Sunday. Five Congress activists were arrested today by the police in the Puri incident.
