Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, was celebrated with joy and fervor in Odisha, today.
Muslims across the state trooped out of their homes to offer special Eid congregational thanks giving prayers marking culmination of the 30 days of fasting. After offering namaz, they hugged each other with greetings of 'Eid Mubarak’.
People dressed in new clothes were seen greeting each other and distributing sweets after performing Namaaz in the morning. Hindus also joined in the celebrations in many parts of the state to mark the day with a show of harmony between communities.
In Bhubaneswar, Namaaz was offered at several mosques including the Unit-4 masjid where thousands of Muslims gathered for the prayer. Similar scenes were witnessed at mosques in millennium city Cuttack.
Eid was celebrated with pomp and joy in Bhadrak as arrangements for Namaaz prayer were made at 31 mosques. Eid celebrations gripped Kendrapada too as Namaaz was offered at Fakirabaad, new Eidgah and old Eidgah.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to twitter to greet people on the occasion of Eid.
