Soro: Just eight days after marriage, a newlywed bride was found hanging at Uparbeda village under Soro police limits in Odisha's Balasore district.

The deceased woman has been identified as Gouri Muduli (22), wife of Basant Singh of Uparbeda village.

The newlywed bride was found hanging from a tree near her in-laws' house in the village on Monday morning.

According to reports, the wedding of Gouri Muduli of Kupari village under Khaira police limits was solemnized with Basant Singh on March 16 as per Hindu tradition. As part of the 'Astamangala' ritual, Gouri visited her father's house on the eighth day of her marriage and returned to her in-laws' house on Sunday afternoon.

The locals found her hanging from a 'sal' tree with a saree around her neck near the house today morning.

Police reached the spot and recovered the body. The body has been sent to the Soro hospital for post-mortem.

It is yet to be ascertained whether she died by suicide, or it was a murder case. The Soro police is investigating into the incident from all the angles.
