Eight of 245 gang rape victims killed in Odisha in last 3 years: CM

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday informed the Odisha Assembly that eight among 245 gang rape victims were killed in the state in last three years.

Replying to a written question of Congress member Prakash Chandra Behera, Patnaik said while 67 gang rape cases were reported in 2012, the number went up to 87 in 2013 and 91 in 2014.

Out of eight gang rape victims killed, five were killed in 2013 while three others died in 2014.

To a question on whether the state government has any provision of providing financial assistance to the gang rape victims, Patnaik said the government has been collecting information in this regard.
