Bhubaneswar: Security arrangements will be escalated from tomorrow for a 3-day-long Bhumi Pujan (foundation stone laying) ceremony of the ambitious Ekamra Kshetra Amenities and Monuments Revival Action (EKAMRA) Plan, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said today in a press conference following a high-level meeting held at Ekamra Hall of BMC here to outline the comprehensive schedule.

Accordingly, the Commissionerate Police issued a traffic advisory to be strictly followed in the State Capital. The ceremony will be held on a grand scale on June 26, 27 and 28 where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay foundation stone of the mega project on the third day.

About 14 platoons of force will be deployed for security purposes and police officials will be on alert round the clock and work in three shifts. Vehicular movement will be barred on roads around the Shaivite shrine. However, arrangements have been made for the parking of vehicles.

A team of cops led by the DCP Singh and comprising of an Additional DCP, five ACPs and nine IICs will be on their toes during the ceremony. A designated Control Room will monitor security arrangements. Priority will be given to traffic control, law and order, prevention of theft and snatching, crowd management and security as well.

BDA Vice-Chairman Balwant Singh, Khurda Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh and Managing Director of OBCC Jaya Krishna Das took part in the meeting. The ceremony is to be organised by Lingaraj Temple Trust Board with the help of servitors of the temple and BDA Vice-Chairman will act as the chief coordinator. As the ceremony will include yagna and cultural programmes, lakhs of devotees and visitors are expected to throng the Capital City, an official source said.
