Elderly couple found dead with throat slit in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Koida: An elderly couple was found dead with throat slit in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. Police officials who reached Langalakata village under Koida block of the district after receiving information about the death of the elderly couple today stated preliminary investigation shows the elderly man and his wife were murdered with a sharp weapon.

The deceased were identified as Paru Munda (68) and wife Magadali Munda (64). As per reports, their three sons were staying away from the home for work.

On Sunday morning, the couple’s daughter-in-law took cows to the nearby agriculture field for grazing. When the daughter-in-law returned home at around noon, she spotted Magadali’s body lying in a pool of blood outside the house whereas Paru was found dead inside the house.

Police today sent the bodies to the Lahunipada CHC for autopsy after registering a case at K.Balanga police station.

Though investigation is on into the incident, police suspect the elderly couple might be killed over sorcery suspicion.
