Elderly man beheaded over suspicion of sorcery in Odisha village

Khunta: An elderly man was beheaded allegedly over suspicion of practising sorcery at Sarajamadihi village in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

The deceased person has been identified as Thunguru Singh, aged about 65 years. The incident took place when he was alone at his home on Friday night.

According to reports, Thunguru’s wife Gurubari Singh and family members had gone outside to watch a football match on Friday. When they returned to home at night, found the elderly man’s severed body lying on verandah of the house.

They immediately informed the police about the incident. The police reached the site and initiated probe into the matter.

As per preliminary investigation, the elderly man was brutally killed for practising sorcery in the village.

It is suspected that nephew of Thunguru was behind the murder as there was a rift between two over suspicion of sorcery.

The Khunta police has detained two persons for interrogation in connection with the murder case.
