Elderly man hacked to death by son in Odisha’s Sambalpur
While the exact cause behind the heinous act is yet to be established, preliminary investigation indicated a heated argument between the father-son duo.
Jujumura/Sambalpur: In a horrifying incident, an elderly man was reportedly beaten to death by his son in Sadar area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Lingaraj Kumura and the accused his son Amulya of Ghenupali village. While the exact cause behind the heinous act is yet to be established, preliminary investigation indicated a heated argument between the father-son duo.
As per reports, Lingaraj and son Amulya got into an argument late in the night. The spat spiralled out of control with Amulya losing his temper and beating his father mercilessly. While the latter collapsed, Amulya fled the scene. Neighbours, on hearing screams, reached the spot and rushed Lingaraj to the nearest hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.
Police on getting information, reached the spot and started probe. The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the postmortem report arrives. Further investigation is underway, official sources informed.
