Rairangpur: A 65-year-old man committed suicide by jumping before a moving train at around 12 Noon near Anlajodi railway station in Rairangpur locality of Mayurbhanj, today.
The deceased was identified as Ranjit Sengupta, who belonged to Gorumahisani in the district.

According to a source, the incident occurred when a MEMU train was on its way to Tatanagar railway station, passing through the junction station. Ranjit had lost his sister nearly two years ago and his younger brother and a legal practitioner Indrajit Sengupta also died due to a cardiac arrest about four months ago. As Ranjit was unmarried, he was leading a lonely life after the sad demises of his siblings. He was suffering from excessive mental agony, the source added.
On being informed, RPF police reached the spot and recovered the body of Ranjit and launched a probe and sent the body to a hospital in Rairangpur for post-mortem.
The reason why Ranjit took an extreme step has not been ascertained yet, a police official said.
