Jajpur: An elderly man was killed in a dynamite blast here in the district today.

The deceased was identified as Kanhei Behera (60), a resident of Gopalpur village under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district.

According to reports, Kanhei in an inebriated state had thrown a dynamite at his house out of anger over family feud after scolding his wife, son and daughter-in-law last night. Initially, the dynamite did not explode.

The blast took place when Kanhei closed himself inside the house after his family members had visited a former sarpanch against him for his continuous irrational behaviour towards them. On their way back home, they heard a huge sound. When they reached home, found Kanhei's body scattered into pieces in the blast.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the incident. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.
