Elderly man strangled to death over petty quarrel in Odisha’s Phulbani

Phulbani: An elderly man was strangled to death by a youth over a petty quarrel in Phulbani Town Police Station limits this afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Ladukeshwara Moharana (70).

As per reports, an argument ensued between grand children of Ladukeshwara and children of his neighbour, Kalia Sahu (30) while playing near their houses at Peonpada Kabarasahi in the town this afternoon. Following this, members of both the families engaged in argument and had a face-off and.

Suddenly in a fit of rage Kalia pushed Ladukeshwara into a drain and strangled him. When Ladukeshwara fell unconscious, Kalia fled the spot. Family members of Ladukeshwara rushed him to the district headquarters hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Based on a complaint filed by Ladukeshwara’s son, Shibaram, police have registered a case and detained Kalia for interrogation, said a police official.
