Bhubaneswar: An elderly man suffered heart attack allegedly due to loud DJ music during Goddess Durga idol immersion procession in Old Town area of Odisha capital on October 25.

The victim is Bijayram Panda, father of Sukanta Kumar Panda, Public Relation Officer, Odisha Chief Minister's Office.

He was undergoing treatment at the ICU of a private hospital in the city after the incident.

Moreover, several other residents of the locality fell ill allegedly due to the loud DJ music during the procession.

Worth mentioning, citizens have been demanding curb on such DJ music during processions.

Though the government has restricted the playing of such music beyond permissible decibel level, the concerned authorities/ police lack adequate instrument to measure the sound, for which resentment has been growing among the people of the city, sources said.
